SUPERMARINE SWINDON 14
WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 50
FIRST-TEAM manager Vaughan Carter lauded his Weymouth players’ performance, exclaiming it was their “best performance of the season” as they beat Swindon Supermarine 50-14 in the Dorset & Wilts Knockout Vase and advance to the semi-final.
A brace of tries from both Chris Lewendon and Norton Rogers helped the Seasiders to the victory and their manager feels they have the potential to go all the way to the final.
He said: “Without doubt this was our best performance of the season, in fact I would say that it is the best we have played since I have been involved with the club.
“We took control from the kick-off and, except from a short period in the second half when we lost a little of our discipline, we were never in any trouble.
“Considering on Wednesday evening we didn’t even know if we would be able name a side the lads who did turn out for us in Swindon all gave 100 per cent commitment to the cause and deserved their victory, now I fancy us to go all the way to the final.”
Chris Llewellyn and Norton Rodgers both crossed twice for the Seasiders with Bryn Llewellyn, Dan Hayne and JT Montephe all touching down once. Bryn Llewellyn added a penalty goal to five conversions and skipper Ryan Lewendon also landing a conversion.
