CORFE MULLEN UNITED 0

CHICKENS’ chief Steve Coward was extremely happy with his team’s comfortable 2-0 win over Corfe Mullen United at the Stalls on Saturday.

Josh Why continued his remarkable run of scoring form for the hosts, netting twice in the second half to seal the victory, in a performance Coward described as “our best performance of the season so far”.

The Stalls manager said: “We were a lot better.

“We had Nick Etherington and Liam Miles back and a couple of experienced players just make a difference.

“They have that will to win, a bit of experience having won things, and we showed that little bit more fight.

“Corfe Mullen can play some good football but they didn’t really get at us. We dominated the game for probably the first 70 minutes, comfortably.

“All in all it was our best performance of the season so far. It was nice to have a few of the lads back and we still had the youngsters there.”

Commenting on Why, who now has nine goals in seven league games this season, Coward added: “He took both of his goals very well, one was a superb striker’s finish to flick it over the goalie, it was really confident.

“He is struggling with a hamstring problem but he is determined to keep going and score in every game. We are just trying to keep going as long as we can.”
