BOSS Jason Matthews admitted he has a positive selection headache with regards to striking options for the Terras’ FA Trophy tie at Whitehawk on Saturday (3pm).

As many as five frontmen are now available for Matthews to pick from.

While Stuart Fleetwood and Sam Jordan started in the 0-0 draw with King’s Lynn Town on Tuesday, Conor Jevon scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final win at Sherborne Town 24 hours later.

Stewart Yetton also found the net in that game having got through 90 minutes after a hamstring injury and Ben Thomson is back from suspension.

Matthews told Echosport: “It’s a nice headache to have with regards to the striker situation. I feel that there are definitely a few people pressing to start now and that’s definitely a good thing.

“The boys that played at Sherborne really put in a shift and did not take the game lightly. They did it how we would want them to do it, which was really pleasing.

“I am really pleased for Conor Jevon to get another hat-trick. He is really putting his name in the frame for a starting space.

“He was unlucky not to start on Tuesday and he has definitely stepped up to the mark.

“It was brilliant to see Yetts back out there for 90 minutes as well. He is a true captain and he needed those minutes under his belt. Credit to him, he showed up very well.

“I wouldn’t say he was match fit yet but it’s great to have him back in the squad.

“They definitely all have their own different attributes and that’s a good thing.”

Weymouth’s Chris Shephard is rated as 50-50 for the encounter with the knee injury he sustained in midweek, Jordan Copp also picked up a knock but is hoping to be fit.

Goalkeeper Dan Thomas is suspended.

Whitehawk currently occupy 16th in National League South at present, a level above the Terras, with former boss Richard Hill leaving the club late last month to join the backroom staff at Aston Villa.

Matthews added: “It’s a big game for us and we need to be positive. Whitehawk are a good side with some experienced players but we need to go there and put on a good show.”
