WEYMOUTH & Portland are looking to address their run of three defeats on the spin when they take on Bournemouth Thirds away from home tomorrow (2.15pm).

Despite their recent injury problems, first team manager Vaughan Carter is not using absentees as an excuse.

He said: “I don’t want to harp on about injuries. All teams suffer with injuries and we are no different.

“When you are denied the chance to select a player it provides an opportunity for someone else to show his worth, and this means young prop Tom Wildman will get the nod in the Saturday’s starting XV.

“Tom’s dad, Mark, played in the front row for the club back in the 1980s and 90s and his son is proving to be his natural successor. Tom has been on the bench and come on as replacement, but now he deserves the opportunity to play from the kick-off.”

Captain Ryan Lewendon is still not fit and is replaced in the centre by Bryn Llewelyn, while scrum-half Lewis Allen retains his place in the side.

Weymouth & Portland: Comben, Hayne, Wildman, Leatham, Dixon, Drummond, Bowditch, Bowditch, Allen, Farley, Rogers, Llewelyn, Young, Moncher, Almond. Subs: Toms, Sankey, Billington.
