A FRUSTRATING weekend for all three of Dorchester’s senior sides saw their fixtures thwarted by the weather.

Both away games were called off early due to frozen pitches and the home league game against Lytchett Minster was postponed about half an hour before kick-off.

However, the first XV did not lose the opportunity of time together as a squad and chose to do some non-contact training as well as work on some set-piece drills.

Coaches Ben Parker and Rich Bament were happy with the outcome given the circumstances

They said: “We didn’t waste the afternoon and it was great that the lads were keen to take the opportunity to do some extra squad training. This is fantastic from a coaches’ point of view because it means the players want to develop and will take every opportunity given.

“We now look to Oakmeadians at home on Saturday and availability is looking strong, we know we will have a good competitive squad hungry for a game. This week in training we will continue on from points raised during the North Dorset game.”

All other home games were called off over the weekend, however, the under-12s’ game at Swanage & Wareham went ahead where Dorchester emerged victors 6-0 in tries.

n Weymouth & Portland’s clash at Bournemouth Thirds was also a victim of the weather.
