BRIDPORT go into their final match of the season against relegation-threatened Bitton on Saturday hoping to sign off in style (3pm).

It’s been a turbulent season for the Bees, but manager Adam Fricker hopes his side can put in one more shift before a well-deserved rest.

He said: “It’s been a long and tough season and I think the lads are looking forward to a bit of a break but we’re fully focussed on trying to get three points.

“Bitton are still fighting to stay up so that might work to our advantage so it hopefully should make it a competitive game.

“They’ll certainly be up for it because they’re going to need the three points. I’d imagine they’ll come down to us and really go for it so we need to try and expose them at the back.

“I want the lads to go out and put on a decent display so we can end the season on a high.

“The lads are an honest bunch and I know they’ll be up for it.”

The Bees’ boss is the first to admit the season hasn’t been a huge success, but says that they have done exactly what was needed of them.

He said: “The season had its ups and downs but the main thing for us was to retain our Premier Division status. We came into pre-season with three recognised players from last season so we knew we had a rebuilding job on our hands.

“We feel like we’ve stabilised the club and we want to build on that in pre-season.”

Fricker confirmed that he is without Sam Buckler, Leigh Bailey, Matt Condliffe for Saturday’s match, with several reserve stars set to be given a chance to shine.
