THE second and final meeting at Littlewindsor this season is being held on Bank Holiday Monday when the Cattistock hold their meet (first race 2pm).

An excellent entry of 101 horses has been received for the seven races which is testimony to the hard work done by Jeremy Barber and his team in keeping the course in such good condition during this dry spell.

The opening race, the two-mile, four-furlong Maiden, sets some posers for racegoers as those that have run so far have not shown very much form.

Findusatgorcombe was fourth on his seasonal debut at Trebudannon and ought to come on for that run.

Horse Force One ran well when fourth at Ottery St Mary in March and should be considered.

Doolin Music ran an encouraging race at Cherrybrook and looks open to improvement.

Of the newcomers, Jack Barber has three entries Robin Waters, Smart Boy and Worthy Down.

The Restricted race, also run over two miles, four furlongs, could see the reappearance of Cereal Killer who was very impressive when winning in the soft ground at Cotley.

Of his potential rivals Eyesopenwideawake is held in high regard by his trainer Richard Bandey and was a very easy winner at Larkhill.

The Ladies’ race could provide Aikideau with his fourth course victory at Littlewindsor.

Given a supremely confident ride by Bryony Frost at the Seavington meeting the partnership are in sparkling form and a repeat of that performance may be too good for his rivals.

Miss Gotaway was an easy winner of the Novice Riders race at the last meeting and may give Aikideau a battle.

The Men’s Open race has attracted an entry of 17 horses and this may give Kernel Victor the chance to get his head in front for the first time this season.

No match for the smart Dan McGrue last time he does not meet anything of that quality in this renewal although Sacre Toi placed in his three outings this season looks the pick of the opposition.

The Club Members Conditions race also contains an entry for Boygojumping and if this race is chosen he should have a strong chance.

Ballybough Gorta won at Badbury Rings to give Ed Henderson his first winner and this course may suit him.

The Open Maiden contains the biggest entry of 24 and the three Barber entries for the shorter Maiden also hold entries in this race plus Roxy Belle who ran in three Bumper races for Mark Rimell but is yet to make her point-to-point debut.

The Hunt Race concludes the card with Barber holding three of the five entries and of these the progressive King Calvin looks the pick.

n The course is at Littlewindsor near Beaminster and is signposted from A3066 Crewkerne-Bridport road and B3165 Crewkerne to Lyme Regis road.
