THE Success of West Dorset Swimming Club just keeps growing as club records continue to tumble across the board.

The club set out to take more swimmers to the ASA South West Region Age Group Championships at Plymouth, Bristol and Millfield School.

More swimmers achieved consideration times and qualifying times and this will continue to propel the club forward, with the view of taking even more to the event next year

During the Youth Regionals at Plymouth, where the older swimmers attended, eight West Dorset swimmers competed and six club records were broken, as well as 14 personal bests.

They included top performances from Amie Buttle, Aidan Watson, Henry Wyrill, Harry Buttle, Louis King, George Green, Lauren O’Toole and Samantha Dunning.

Club records were broken by Aidan Watson (50m freestyle), Henry Wyrill (100m freestyle, 200, freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke) and Amie Buttle (50m butterfly).

Congratulations also go to Daniel Kingman, Finley Jarvis, Leon Mowlem, Lauren McRobbie, Jacob Watson, Abigail Barnes, Ellie Springett, Holly Johnson and Cameron Bailey for qualifying and competing in the younger age categories, (11yrs – 14years).

Nine swimmers competed in multiple events at the Age Group Championships in with 27 personal best times achieved and several swimmers making it into their respective finals.

There were also nine club records broken by Dan Kingman (100m freestyle and 200m freestyle), Finley Jarvis (50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke), Leon Mowlem (50m butterfly and 100m butterfly) and Lauren McRobbie (50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly).

A spokesperson for the club said: “These are outstanding results and West Dorset Swimming Club are very proud of all their swimmers.”
