WEYMOUTH Reserves manager Bradley Asagba has resigned from his post with immediate effect.

The Reserves’ departing boss put his decision down to a “lifestyle reorientation”.

Weymouth Reserves have made a poor start to the season, winning just two and losing six of their eight games, and currently sit 15th of 19 teams in Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

Speaking to Echosport about his exit, Asagba maintained that “management is 100 per cent for me” despite ending his tenure at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

He said: “I just wanted a bit of a change. It’s a bit of lifestyle reorientation. At this moment in time I’m just going to take some time out. Personally, I’ll be taking a back seat.

“Management is 100 per cent for me. When I started, I started at the bottom with a small club. I had six months at Blandford and saved them from relegation.

“Football is still something I’m very passionate about and managing is something I’m very passionate about.”

And Asagba felt that his development of young players at the club is something he will look back on “as a success”.

He said: “I’ll look back quite fondly in terms of where the club was when I took it over. There was a slow start last season but we got to mid-table and finished with the longest unbeaten run in the Wessex League.

“And players going on to play for the first team and then higher with other teams is something I’ll look back on as a success.”

Asagba also feels that whoever his replacement may be, the Reserves’ squad houses plenty of potential.

He said: “They’ve got a lot of very talented players. They’ve got one or two players that aren’t far away from making the step up to the first team.

“There are lots of players in and around the first team setup. There are some very good young players at the club, hopefully they will have a future with the first team.”
