TRIATHLON star Chris Perham’s Loughborough I team finished second at the inaugural British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup in Nottingham.

Leeds I beat Loughborough by 41 seconds, leading home 15 other teams to victory in a discipline which is set to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020.

The mixed relay features a 300m swim a 7.5km bike and 1.5km run, which is repeated once for every competitor in a four-athlete team.

Perham’s Loughborough squad owed much to Ben Dijkstra’s excellent swim in the final leg, while team-mates Jodie Stimpson and Sophie Coldwell also performed strongly.

Portland ace Perham raced the second leg and told the British Triathlon website that the atmosphere at the event had been “outstanding”.

He said: “The atmosphere throughout the whole competition was outstanding, and I hope to come back and do it again.”
