MIDFIELD talent Mikaela Hansson believes it “shouldn’t be too long” before she makes her bow for Yeovil Ladies’ first team.

Hansson, 17, from Weymouth, currently plays on the Yeovil development team but is edging closer to making her debut in the Women’s Super League.

The central midfielder, who marks Spain legend Xavi as her inspiration, told Echosport that she had got into football by watching her father and brother play around 10 years ago.

She said: “When I was about six or seven years old I went to play with my Dad and brother. I didn’t like it that my brother was better!

“So I tried to get better and did as many training sessions as possible, then I ended up getting into Yeovil.

“I’m playing for the development team and I’m on the fringes of the first team. It shouldn’t be too long before I’m up there.”

And Hansson, who attends Bridgwater and Taunton College, has now begun the search for sponsors to help her realise her ambition to play for club and country.

“It would go towards players’ kit and transport, getting to all the games, and then a scholarship in California.

“In return, they will get two season tickets for Yeovil Ladies’ first team and they will be advertised on our website under my name. I can do any player appearances in support of their business too.”
