WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has called for his players to “remain level-headed” as the Terras prepare to travel to St Ives in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

Molesley’s men are on an impressive streak of five consecutive league wins, the most recent of which came in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Merthyr Town on Tuesday night, with Brandon Goodship scoring a hat-trick.

But the Terras’ boss stressed the importance of focusing on one game at a time as his side makes the lengthy journey to Cambridgeshire.

He told Echosport: “It’s a long trip. We have to be on our mettle and be focused for every game. It’s important that we all remain level-headed and don’t get ahead of ourselves.

“It’s an unforgiving league, there’s a lot of travelling. It’s tough and we’ve got to stand up to the challenge.”

The Saints recorded a 1-0 win over Weymouth on the opening day of the season in what remains their only league win of the season, and Molesley is aiming to “avenge” that defeat.

He said: “We’ll look to avenge the defeat but we won’t get carried away. We’ll approach it the same as we do every game.”

Molesley also singled out Josh Carmichael and captain Jake McCarthy for their superb performances against Merthyr.

“I think Josh’s was one of the best midfield performances at the Bob Lucas. If you played the video back people would be raving about it on Match of the Day.

“Jake’s been fantastic for us in defence. He’s very comfortable on the ball and helps set up our attacks,” he said.

Mark Cooper is Weymouth's only injury doubt, with the defender nursing a dead leg.
