SHERBORNE’S Thomas Plumb remains in sixth place after the second round of the 2017 Telegraph Vitality Junior Golf Championship.

In a difficult day where the wind returned mid-way through the day, Plumb carded 83.

The youngster is six shots behind leader Max Hopkins, who took over the lead from Ben Jones, going into the final round.

Plumb, 18, is an England international and four handicapper has won the Midland Open Men’s Amateur and represented GB and Ireland in the Jacques Leglise Trophy.

The second round contest saw the final group all hit the lake which hampered the hopes of James Wilson, Will Hopkins and Ben Jones who led after the first round.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ event, Annabel Fuller took the lead from Charlotte Heath after carding 74.

The tournament is taking place at Quinta do Lago, a golf resort based in Portugal on the Algarve.
