WEYMOUTH 2

Sam Tring og 86, Charlie Seaman 90+1

KINGS LANGLEY 0

WEYMOUTH earned a hard-fought 2-0 win against Kings Langley to get back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League at the Bob Lucas Stadium after consecutive defeats.

It took until the 77th minute for the breakthrough to come after both sides missed numerous great chances to take the lead.

When it did come it came in the form of an own goal from Kings Langley defender Sam Tring.

The Terras announced the loan signing of defender Charlie Seaman from AFC Bournemouth prior to the match, who went on to score the second goal to cap a memorable debut.

Weymouth were able to welcome back Ashley Wells, who missed the 3-1 defeat away at Hitchin Town last week due to the birth of his daughter.

There was an unexpected rest for Weymouth as their scheduled BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup match against Totton was rained off in mid-week.

Kings Langley began 21st in the league with 11 points and two wins all season far behind the Terras in fifth with 31 points.

After an immaculately observed minute silence for Remembrance weekend, the Terras kicked off with an early chance for Kings Langley coming soon after as a looping shot went over from distance.

Shortly after the two teams exchanged corners with both being easily cleared.

Another shot from the Kings was easily saved by Mark Travers in the Weymouth goal while Pat Suraci spearheaded a promising move that fizzled out.

The Kings responded when a shot from captain Jorell Johnson went wide when well-placed inside the hosts’ box.

Charlie Davis then found himself with the ball just outside the Kings’ box after a promising free-kick, but his shot went over the bar.

A ball forward reached Weymouth’s new signing Seaman out wide but his ball back in was cleared away.

Seaman was involved again in Weymouth’s best chance of the first half as he put the ball across the six-yard box but Weymouth couldn’t find the touch to put it in.

Kings Langley then went close with a move worked to Mitchell Weiss inside the box, but he could only fire straight at Travers.

Despite good chances for both sides the two teams went in level at the break.

At the start of the second half the Terras were quick to force a corner which was headed out for a goal kick via a deflection.

Kings Langley went on a lengthy attack which failed to trouble Travers, before Emmanuel Folarin spurned a good opportunity for the away side as his shot spun out for a goal kick.

Callum Buckley then came to the Terras rescue as he forced a goal bound shot away.

Weymouth nearly scored soon afterwards as the game accelerated into life.

A great attack saw Harry Baker put the ball wide after getting on the end of a lovely cross from Ben Thomson with Martin Bennett beaten.

Going into the last 20 minutes the two sides were exchanging attacking spells but with no clinical end product as the score remained level.

Wells received a yellow card for a foul when the away side were on the break, while the resulting free kick came to nothing.

The Terras were plugging away in their attempts to make the breakthrough and were succeeding in creating chances but lacking a finish.

Abdulai Baggie came on in the 77th minute which seemed to inspire the Terras into a good attacking move as a late corner saw Thomson head wide from inside the box.

Weymouth eventually opened the scoring after Thomson fired a ball into the box in the 86th minute which was turned in by Trill.

Weymouth then sealed the win in the 91st minute after Seaman was found in the middle of the box and fired in the top left corner for a goal on his debut.

The result puts Weymouth up to fourth in the table with 34 points, while Kings Langley stay in 21st.

Mark Molesley’s men next face Tiverton Town, who are sixth in the table, at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Tuesday.
