DORCHESTER TOWN 1

Baghdadi 38

DORCHESTER Town conceded late goals for the second consecutive match as they lost 3-1 at Frome Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Two goals from Jake Jackson and one from Jon Davies sealed the deal for the home side while Mo Baghdadi scored for the Magpies.

Dorchester had been looking for a win after a disappointing loss at the weekend to Heybridge Swifts in the FA Trophy.

Frome opened the scoring in the 12th minute after Jackson got on the end of a long ball and rounded Chris Weale to fire into the net.

Aaron Rodriguez nearly levelled for the Magpies soon after but his shot went the wrong side of a post.

Shortly before the half hour mark, Phil Ormrod went close, after winning the ball from a defender, but he was forced wide by Robins’ goalkeeper Kyle Phillips and fired wide.

The pressure finally told in the 38th minute when a Magpies’ corner was worked to Baghdadi on the edge of the area where he took a shot that went in under Phillips in the Robins’ goal.

The home side nearly had an immediate response as a cross from Ollie Knight saw Ryan Bath head over from six yards out.

Both keepers were called into action in the closing stages of the first half, with Weale doing well to keep out a good shot from Bath, and Sam Lanahan for the Magpies forcing a good stop from Phillips.

The second half had an uneventful start until Gary Bowles received a yellow card for a late tackle on Kris Miller.

The match had become rather heated as Ross Carmichael was given a yellow card for a foul on Davies on the edge of the Magpies’ box, but the resulting free-kick hit the wall and was cleared.

On 79 minutes, Frome regained the lead after a ball from Teale found Davies on the edge of the box, who fired into the top corner with Weale out of position.

Billy Lowes nearly responded soon after with two chances for the Magpies, which went over the bar and wide respectively.

Frome then wrapped up the win in the 85th minute after Joe Raynes put a ball through to Jackson who fired home.

The Magpies next face third-placed Kettering Town at home on Saturday.
