DORSET star Yazmin Davis will go into Olympia high on confidence following two great finishes at Keysoe International.

Davis, from Blandford, finished third in the World Ranking Grand Prix and also secured a second-placed finish in the Big Tour Two Phase and both were on Zilverster II.

Speaking of her third-place finish in the grand prix Davis, 23, said: “The top three were all the same second it was just by point something of a second so it was really close.”

Leading into Olympia, which starts today, Yazmin says: “I am feeling pretty confident, I have been there for the last two years as well, so I know she (Zilverster II) is used to the arena.

“She knows the arena and so do I, it is quite tight in there, it is quite a small arena but it suits her.”

Explaining the difference between her recent results and the challenges that face her at Olympia, Davis said: “Olympia is more people my age group whereas a couple of weeks ago it was everyone. Hopefully she goes as well as she has been going.”

The confidence is clear heading into Olympia as she says: “I want to win.

“I am excited but I will be a bit nervous as well. This being the third time I am there it is a bit more pressure because I was third last year. I didn’t really have any expectations last year.

“Obviously I have gone really well this year so it makes me want to do it even more.”

Her recent results have earned an invitation to the Liverpool CSI4* show over the New Year.

Yazmin said: “I didn’t expect it.

“It will all be good experience. It is a good opportunity to push myself. I know the horses are good enough.

“Neither of the horses have competed at that level and neither have I but I know they are capable.”

It has been a successful year for Davis, who has also achieved a third place finish in the 2* World Ranking Big Tour Grant Prix in Chepstow back in May and also rode to victory in the National Foxhunter Masters Championship and the Grade C National Championship in Stoneleigh back in August.

Looking back over the year Davis reflected: “It has been the best. I have achieved way more than what I expected. I didn’t expect it to be half the year it has been. It has just got better and better.”

Looking ahead now Davis says: “I am just seeing how it goes and just seeing how each competition goes.”

Olympia lasts from today until Monday and takes place in Hammersmith, West London.
