GW Electrical claimed a good win over basement side Bay Fencing & Landscaping to edge closer to Saints Security in fifth.

GW defenders, Caroline Goode (GK) and Laura Osbourne (GD) made an effective team, working hard to secure interceptions. Bay’s attackers were however, able to find the space to move down the court. GW upped their attack, taking a one-goal lead in the final minutes.

Short, sharp passes between Bay’s Becky Chance (WA) and Hayley Stanton (C) allowed the ball to reach their shooters, who were waiting to convert.

GW were able to disrupt this flow with some interceptions. Tactical changes at half-time left GW trying to find their footing; Bay were quick to take advantage, with some fantastic interceptions by GK, Bobbie Bosworth. GW managed to score some crucial goals to strengthen their lead going into the final quarter where they held on for the win.

WATERSIDE 42

NEW BODY FITNESS 39

WATERSIDE fought to a narrow win over New Body Fitness to take second place in the table.

Waterside took an early lead, thanks to fantastic movement in the D; GS, Susan Lee who did not miss a single shot throughout the quarter. Waterside GK, Kiera Boardman, worked hard to prevent New Body’s scoring chances.

New Body came back fighting, with excellent shooting by Jodie Howell (GS) and Emily Conning (GA). Waterside worked hard to intercept, but New Body dominated the quarter, almost annihilating Watersides first quarter lead.

New Body were able to level the score for a while but Waterside clawed back a small lead which they held onto for victory.

TEAM WAIKIKI 48

COASTAL CHEESE 28

TEAM Waikiki earned a valuable win against Coastal Cheese that now sees them as one of three teams level on 30 points.

After a slow-paced start for both teams, Coastal edged ahead. Waikiki responded with strong defence, moving the ball back down the court where GS, Cristal Butcher, was quick to convert but Coastal were still able to carve out a small lead.

Coastal GA, Ellen MacDonald, made the most of scoring opportunities, however Waikiki’s tactical play allowed them to gain a small lead. In the third quarter Coastal tried to regain the lead, but were denied by shooting from Waikiki GA, Lin Rawcliff.

Waikiki dominated the final quarter and in the end were rewarded with the victory.

Division Two

BEAMINSTER BRAVES 39

D.D.B.I 30

BEAMINSTER Braves maintained the pressure on top of the table NMP Property despite a top effort from DDBI.

Braves made a good start, limiting DDBI’s scoring opportunities with some good interceptions.

Despite having only six players, DDBI fought hard. Braves continued to make crucial interceptions, however, moving the ball down to GA, Catrin Harris, whose skill shone through with some brilliant long-range goals.

Braves came back as WA, Jane Alexander, made good passes into the D, giving her shooters opportunities to score. DDBI’s GS, Phillipa Coull, made some superb shots of her own. DDBI magnified their defence, however Braves maintained their lead going into the third quarter. Braves shooters continued to make the most of opportunities, despite a strong effort from DDBI.

DDBI showed superb skill across the court in the final quarter to lower the score difference. However, Braves’ consistency saw them through to a well-earned victory.
