THE Kings Arms will be supporting the Weymouth Beach Series, formerly the Weymouth Beach League, for the remainder of this season by providing financial support for new equipment.

The move comes as part of a tie up with the pub on the harbourside, who will be providing prizes and discounted meals for the players.

The Weymouth Beach Summer Series are weekly events on Tuesday evenings on the permanent volleyball courts next to the Boat Cafe.

Players can score ranking points so that they can gain a Weymouth King Of The Beach ranking.

The current leaders in the Super Series for the top players are Valdis Baranovs, Terry Oldrid and Craig Bishop while the Challenger Series is led by Mark Lee, Becky O’Neill and Paul Fitzgerald.

Pete Bennett, Beach Volleyball Club treasurer, said he was delighted to announce this new sponsorship with the Kings Arms and that it would give real support to local players. He also hoped the Kings Arms would benefit from the publicity this would give to them.

Richard and Emma Lamb, owners of the Kings Arms, said: “It is great to get involved and be part of a great community event. The work put in by Pete Bennett and Graeme Sawyer is amazing and needs everyone’s support. It shows what a great place Weymouth is to live and work.”
