DORCHESTER Town have welcomed two new directors to the club’s board in a move announced at the Magpies’ AGM.

Carl Mintern, whose provisional appointment was declared last month, is joined on the board by fellow newcomer Chris Andrews, whose nomination was successful.

Incumbent Dorchester chairman Matt Lucas and vice-chairman David Martin were also unanimously given approval to continue their roles at the Avenue Stadium.

Retiring directors Shaun Hearn, Adam Robertson and David Barrow were given votes of thanks for their services to the club.

New signing Sean Stewart was unveiled on the night, along with news of left-back Neil Martin’s decision to remain with the Magpies.

Speaking to Echosport, Lucas felt the AGM had been a constructive occasion.

He said: “It was a very positive meeting and very well attended. People were able to have a look at how the pitch is coming on before the meeting began.

“The three retiring directors Shaun, Adam and David were given a vote of thanks and a round of applause for what they’ve given to the club in their tenure.

“Carl was confirmed as a director and we had a nomination for Chris, who is a local lad and supporter of the club who is now on the board of directors as well.

“Steve (Thompson, manager) and Trevor (Senior, assistant-manager) outlined a few of their pre-season plans and were also there to answer any questions.

“After, there were questions directed to us as

a board about everything around the club. It was a good, open discussion on everything to do with Dorchester Town Football Club.”

Elaborating on the appointment of Andrews, Lucas felt the club’s newest director could help provide a link between the supporters and the board.

He said: “Chris works in the area and will bring a connection between the supporters and the club.

“He’s keen to get involved in all workings of the club. It will be good to have someone who has predominantly been a supporter of the club from the board’s perspective.

“He will also be very useful practically around the club with regards to maintenance.”

Lucas also moved to allay any fears about the size of the Magpies’ squad, with only nine players signed on for next season.

He said: “Steve was very clear in what he said. It’s not unusual for managers to wait until later in the off-season. Undoubtedly there will be players that will make themselves known.

“It may be that people will want to come down to trial. Steve is very thorough with his player recruitment. He wants to make sure that he knows a lot about the individual.

“Steve is not panicked – we’ve got time on our hands. He’s talking to players all the time. I’m sure that there will be further additions in due course.”
