Dorchester’S Bradley King is confident of a successful season in 2010 – four months after suffering a double fracture in his back.

The county town enduro rider crashed during preparations for the Slovakian round of the European Championship and spent five days in a Slovakian hospital after sustaining a double fracture to the thoracic vertebrae.

He was then transferred to the Dorset County Hospital before being fitted with a back brace, which has now been removed.

King is back in training and despite his four-month absence, the Dorchester man believes he can enjoy a prosperous New Year.

He said: “I’ve been having daily physio and regular swimming to regain movement in my back. The main priority now is getting the strength back again as the time spent not being able to move my back and exercise means most of my strength has been lost.

“I have been back in full training for two weeks now and this has shown how much fitness and strength I have lost. But I am confident that, with lots of hard training, I can get back to full fitness ready for a successful 2010 campaign.

“I’ve been back on the bike twice now and I’m slowly rebuilding speed and confidence. The first time I just went out for a slow ride to check my back felt okay.

“I was pleasantly surprised to find no real pain in my back although I felt it the next day. My second time back on the bike was at the Rogershill Raceway motocross practice track.

“Despite all the recent rain the track was in near perfect condition and I really enjoyed it. I was able to put in some good steady laps without any back pain although I was struggling a little with my thumb that I also injured in Slovakia.

“I got faster during the day and hopefully with a few more outings I will be able to move on the bike quicker and put in some quick times.”
