Weymouth College 65 FERNDOWN 31
AFTER suffering back-to-back defeats, Weymouth College retur-ned to winning ways with a convincing victory over Ferndown Sixth Form.
The game got off to a fairly even opening before Weymouth took control with Josh Blowers’ two baskets putting them in front.
The visitors did reply with a basket of their own, but the seasiders found their rhythm and closed the half with a healthy 32-12 advantage.
However, Weymouth coach Alex Fuhrmann took no chances, continuing to rotate his players in a bid to sustain the pressure.
Ferndown showed flashes of good play but with forward Connor Doherty in fine form, the College proved too strong and increased their lead to 30 points.
As the match drew to a close, the home side’s confidence continued to grow as every member of the team got on the scoresheet.
And baskets from forwards Zack Phillips and Joel Woolrich rounded off a 65-31 triumph.
Fuhrmann said: “It was a surprising game actually as I thought Ferndown would be tougher opponents with some of the players they had.
“But our lads, with a great team effort, came straight out of the gate and didn’t relinquish their lead.”
Weymouth College: Connor Doherty 12, Dan Campbell 11, Josh Blowers 10, Sam Dodge 8, Marco Deters 8, Freddie Cooke 6, Norton Rogers 6, Zack Phillips 2, Joel Woolrich 2.
