Rolls hopeful of securing Terras' CVA and Hutch return

WEYMOUTH chairman George Rolls is positive that next Friday will not be the last in the Terras’ 120-year history and hopes to be able to celebrate by also unveiling Ian Hutchinson as manager that day.

Although a rejection of Rolls’ proposed Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) could spell the end for Weymouth FC, the Trade Recruitment supremo is hopeful that it will be passed without a hitch.

Plus, following a telephone conversation with ex-boss Hutchinson on Wednesday evening, Rolls could be set to reappoint the Wessex Stadium favourite as the club’s next manager.

“Next Friday is a massive day in the history of Weymouth FC and I would like to think that the CVA would take care of itself so we can move on,” said the Terras’ chairman. “I had a conversation with Ian on Wednesday but he’s gone on holiday now and we will take the talks further next week.

“I don’t want to go into it too much because that is to stay between myself and Ian. It would be unfair to say anything.

“There’s not a lot to report on but I’m convinced Ian Hutchinson wants to return as manager of Weymouth FC.”

Hutchinson was controversially sacked by Rolls, along with assistant Andy Mason, in January but was also in a positive mood following constructive talks with Rolls.

“I talked over the phone with George Rolls at length and I’ll be meeting him again next week for more talks – hopefully with a contract ready to be signed,” said Hutchin-son. “It was quite a positive chat and we thrashed a few things out. Hopefully we’ll meet up face-to-face next week and thrash a few more things out.

“I told him how it was from our end and he said things from his side, and hopefully we will come to an agreement.

“But until a contract is in front of us, nothing will be confirmed.”

However, Rolls has said that the management duo will have to wait for contracts until the club’s future has been secured through his proposed CVA.

The chairman added: “I will speak with Ian again and if we can come to an agreement that’s mutually beneficial to Ian Hutchin-son and Weymouth FC then I’m sure he will return as manager.

“We can agree everything in principle but I’m not going to agree this, that and the other when we’ve got the CVA next Friday.

“But hopefully next Friday there might be a double bit of good news with the CVA passing and Ian Hutchinson’s return.”

Speaking about the CVA’s chances of succeeding, Rolls commented: “If you sound arrogant thinking things are going through they have a tendency to come back and bite you in the bum.

“But I’m quite happy with saying things as they are and I would be very shocked if it doesn’t go through.”

n Stephen Reed was absent from the Terras’ squad for the match with Welling United because of “disciplinary reasons”, Rolls has revealed.

The chairman said: “He wasn’t involved last week because of disciplinary reasons at the club.

“If that’s been resolved, which I’m hoping it has been, he will be available tomorrow.”

Weymouth travel to second-placed Chelmsford City tomorrow (3pm).

hmmmm lets hope this is not another of those false hopes that the Terra's fans have to endure. Mind you they are getting so used to them to all these ups and downs they are almost immune. Will the CVA be accepted, Mr Rolls thinks it will, I actually think it won't, but will like all the other Terra's fans keep my fingers crossed, but I tell you what, this article just sounds like another opportunity to sell a few newspapers to me. ALSO My problem is........ if it is accepted will any company in Weymouth trust the club again? And how long before the debt starts to pile up. It has been proven time and time again (over the past 10 years in particular) that this football club is not sustainable in it's current form. It needs 365 days a year revenue, until it gets that, the debt will just start to pile up again, Simples. Well I hope he is right and I am wrong, we shall see!

It is my belief that to get the CVA through "Sausage" will have to have 75% of the DEBT NOT CREDITORS in favour of it. Therefore if the Club owes 100 creditors a Million between them and ONE Person is owed £750K and he/she votes against the CVA it WILL NOT get passed. So really it boils down to who is owed the most and if he/she wants the club to carry on.

What other clubs have paid, or will pay back something like 9p in the £.

Pompey, Palace, Luton, Northwich, Bournemouth, Leeds, Southampton, Darlington (twice!), Rotherham, Crawley, Boston, Leicester City, Oldham and no doubt the list goes on.

Do all local businesses not trust these clubs, or throw caution to the air next time.

Will anyone trust the club again? Its a fair point. Of course, the strategy of the last board was to attempt to pay everyone 100% over 3 or 4 years, and they were slaughtered for it by the alderman and his cronies, and others.
Now George is being realistic (and doing what the alderman wanted to do himself) and trying to pay off a percentage - and he is being slaughtered too.
So - what is the alternative? go in to admin and pay nothing to no one? Hands up everyone who prefers that option. Oh, hello alderman.
Get real people. The club has debt because it lived way beyond its means for too long, starting with Mr Harrison. What is happening now is just pidgeons coming home to roost. Mr. Curtis' land deal is just a spot of local colour, exaggerated and hyped by people who prefer for whatever reason to adopt a martyr stance.
WFC at the Wessex is not sustainable and never was; somebody needs to come up with a better idea.
