The events surrounding the demise of Ian Hutchinson's two terms at the helm of Weymouth FC.

January 5, 2010

George Rolls announces that Ian Hutchinson and his assistant Andy Mason have accepted contracts to manage the Terras until the end of the season.

The chairman tells Echosport: “For me, he (Hutchinson) has picked up enough points to warrant a permanent contract until the end of the season.”

January 17, 2010

Just 12 days later, Hutchinson and Mason are sacked.

Rolls said: “I don't feel he (Hutchinson) is the man to keep us up.”

March 12, 2010

Rolls admits he made a mistake in dismissing Hutchinson, and is keen to reappoint the 38-year-old after Jerry Gill resigns as manager.

He said: “I will hold my hands up and realise I made a mistake in getting rid of Ian Hutchinson.”

April 14, 2010

Hutchinson and Mason agree to return and subsequently sign two-year contracts.

Rolls said: “We at the club are delighted to have Ian and Andy back and hopefully this can be the start of a more stable future for the football club.”

Despite a poor run of results, Rolls gives his public backing to the management duo.

He said: “We need stability at the club and I can confirm that whatever happens on the pitch this season Ian will not be sacked.

“Too many clubs are in the habit of firing managers soon into their tenure and we will not be making that mistake.

“I have admitted to my mistake of sacking Ian last January and I can confirm this won't happen again.”

December 4, 2010

Rolls reveals plans to extend Hutchinson’s contract beyond 2012.

He said: “Any good business model will only work with continuity and stability. Ian and Andy have done a good job on limited resources – but resources which are good for where we are at – and are contracted until the end of next season at the moment.

“But I want to let the community know that we want to keep them here for a while after that.”

Rolls announces that assistant-boss Mason has verbally agreed a three-year extension to his current deal.

He also outlines hopes that Hutchinson will sign a similar contract.
