South & West Dorset Netball League
Division One
WATERSIDE 70 GW ELECTRICAL 12
CHAMPIONS Waterside secured a perfect season as they hammered GW Electrical to maintain their 100 per cent record.
Waterside were in fine form from the first whistle and by half-time they had moved into a commanding 37-5 lead.
GW refused to wave the white flag but Waterside goal-defence Sally David prevented the ball reaching the opposition shooters.
And the table-toppers ran out comfortable winners, 70-12.
Division Two
BRICKCRAFT 40 NEW IMAGE 37
NEW Image failed to ease their relegation fears as they slipped to a narrow defeat against Brickcraft.
The former started strongly with excellent centre-court play from Zoe Fowler, and they took an early 12-7 lead after the first quarter.
After the break, Brickcraft worked hard to reduce the deficit. Their shooting duo of Sue Cox and Tracy Moore scored consistently, much to the frustration of New Image’s defence, who were committing frequent infringements.
Just a goal behind, Brickcraft continued with determination during the second half and they got their noses in front at 30-29.
Both teams kept their composure during the final 15 minutes, with great positioning and shooting from New Image’s Sue Bennett.
The match went right to the wire but it was Brickcraft who earned the win, 40-37.
Division Three
STICKLANDS 25 SGM HAIR 32
THIS inter-club match between fourth-placed SGM and fifth-placed Sticklands was always set to be a close encounter.
Sticklands started the better of the two, with both excellent shooting and circle defence making life hard for their opponents.
Sticklands’ wing-attack Mel Dawson made some accurate feeds to her shooters, giving them the confidence they needed to take an early lead.
SGM showed renewed vigour in the second quarter, thanks to the efforts of goal-shooter Ad Sheppard, and they closed the gap to two.
SGM continued in the same vein and managed to open up a 28-19 lead going into the final period.
Sticklands rallied once more but their club rivals held on to clinch a 32-25 victory, which lifts them to third and drops Stickland to sixth.
