FOUR Frampton drivers will go for glory in two meetings at Wiscombe Park this weekend.

Two of the villagers will battle for the honours in the over 1800cc Sports Libre category while there will also be representation in the Road-going Specialist Production Car class and the over 2000cc racing car division, where Rod Thorne will be seeking his third Wiscombe Park victory of the season.

Hayley Thorne and Colin Pook will double-drive a 5.0 litre Rover V8 powered Pilbeam MP43 in the Sports Libre.

The latter, not having driven competitively in this country since the spring, will be looking to get back in the groove as he and Hayley stave-off the challenge of Doug Bennett with his massively powerful 2.3 litre turbo-charged Sylva Striker.

Fellow Frampton flag-flyer Stewart Green takes his 1300cc Sylva Riot up against stern competition in the over 1800cc Road-going Specialist Production Car class.

Megabusa powered Westfield SEi pilot Neal Coles has a successful record in the class but they will both have to attend to the conventional car engined Westfields of Mike Williams and Andy Cawsey.

Returning to the single-seater 3.5 litre Judd V8 powered Pilbeam MP58 following his sojourn in the sports racer MP43 at the July British Championship meeting, Rod Thorne will be looking to add to the brace of victories already achieved at Wiscombe Park this season. Between him and such a feat stand the similar but three-litre cars of Paul Crute and Thorne’s Wiscombe nemesis Terry Graves who has gained a single at the venue this season in his Gould GR37.

John Sullivan will be joining his son, Paul, in the 1400cc to 1800cc capacity split of the Road-going Specialist Prod-uction cars in their 1600cc Westfield SEi.

John, from Lyme Regis, and Sullivan junior, will have fierce competition in the form of Keith Hazell in his Sylva Striker and the Stuart Taylor R1 of Geoff and Philip Pearn.

Another Lyme Regis resident and reigning Bridge Tyres and Wheels Wiscombe champion, Craig Moore, will be in action with his entertaining Ford Escort Mk2 in the Saturday event in the Rally Car class while Lee Moore will be eying victory in the up to 1400cc Road-going Specialist Production car category.

Another driver to take to the track during Saturday’s meeting will be Dorch-ester’s Timothy Topper, who will be in the over 2600cc division in his BMW 3.0 CSL.
