DORCHESTER TOWN RESERVES 1

LOCKS HEATH RESERVES 2

THE Magpies slumped to their first defeat of the season after Locks Heath turned the tables on them in the Wyvern Challenge Cup.

The hosts went into the game boasting a 100 per cent league record but their opponents proved a constant threat throughout and eventually came out on top despite going a goal behind.

An even first half saw both defences on top with Jason Kennard going closest for the Magpies and Simba Muchini striking the woodwork for the visitors.

Home keeper Harry Reynolds was also forced into a smart block but apart from that it was quite heavy going for the two sides in very wet conditions.

Joe Smith then put Dorchester ahead early in the second half by turning in Antony Carlile’s cross at the far post but the lead did not last long.

A poor back-pass enabled Mark Smith to round Reynolds to equalise before Muchini broke away on the counter-attack to make it 2-1 to the visitors not long after.

The Magpies then tried to respond with a flurry of late substitutions but in the end, Heath held on to book their place in the second round.

Magpies: Reynolds, Carlile, Mitchie, Rolls, Brooks, S Smith (Jones 80), Twyford, Gape, J Smith (Old 80), Kennard, Beasley (Oliver 86).
