DORCHESTER RESERVES 0 AFC TOTTON RESERVES 2

DORCHESTER Reserves began their Wyvern Premier Division campaign with a 2-0 defeat to AFC Totton at the Avenue.

The Magpies, now under joint managers Neil Mackie and Jay Keating, looked sharp in the early stages and produced some slick passing moves.

Totton reacted by stepping up their physical approach and the Magpies were on the end of a number of crunching tackles.

James Whitlock and Matthew Randell scored in quick succession midway through the first half to leave Dorchester with a mountain to climb.

A late challenge on Luke Woodland saw Dan Sawyer go into the book before Totton keeper Jack Nicholson saved well from Kieran Parrett.

Dorchester nearly equalised when a shot from Callum Neate was deflected over the bar following a good run by Oakley Hanger.

The visitors picked up three more bookings from referee Alex Rus-Fear during the second half, with Whitlock, Joe Walsh, Liam Cullen and Tom Strong all receiving cautions.

Pete Taylor, David Jerrard and Luke Brown came on for the hosts but they just couldn’t find a way through a resolute Totton defence.

Dorchester’s next fixture is scheduled for next Wednesday when they host Petersfield Town (7.45pm).
