DORCHESTER TOWN 6

THE Magpies marched into the semi-finals of the Dorset Senior Cup with a resounding victory over Swanage Town & Herston at Days Park.

Jack Odam was on target twice for the visitors, while Kieran Parrett, Robbie Matthews, Sam Lanahan and Jason Brookes also got their names on the scoresheet.

The tie was barely 10 minutes old when the diminutive Parrett broke free down the left, made his way into the Swans’ box, and fired past Judd Huse in the home goal.

However, the hosts could well have drawn level a few minutes later, Josh Reavenall-Nuete’s cross-shot hitting a post.

But order was restored as Dorchester doubled their advantage, this time Matthews and Odam linked up before the former beat Huse from close range.

Brookes replaced Nick Crittenden at the end of the first half, the veteran midfielder going off as a precautionary measure after picking up a knock.

The match was all but over seven minutes after the restart when Odam netted with a clinical finish, and the same player got the Magpies’ fourth from the spot following a foul on Parrett.

Kemp’s men were really asserting themselves at this point and Lanahan headed in substitute Alex Godfrey’s corner to make it 5-0.

But the best was saved for last when Brookes, like Parrett and Matthews, registered his first Dorchester goal in the 88th minute – and what a superb strike it was.

“We did a professional job from start to finish and our performance in the second half pleased me the most,” said Kemp.

“The scoreline really did reflect the game and it was great to see the likes of Kieran, Jason and Robbie get their goals.

“We’re not going to get carried away with the performance, but it showed how different the atmosphere is at the club now compared to when we played Parley in the previous round.”
