DORCHESTER Town’s coach may have broken down en route for their clash with Cambridge City on Saturday, but that didn’t stop the Magpies cruising to back-to-back league wins with a dominant victory over the Lilywhites.

Player-manager Mark Jermyn admitted he had his concerns with the sudden dash to get ready when his team eventually arrived at Westwood Road for a delayed kick-off, after what had become a troublesome trip.

But with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Charlie Davis, Chris Dillon and Bradley Tarbuck, the county town club ensured they made it a much happier journey home with three points in the bag.

Jermyn told Echosport: “We were a little bit worried when we were on our way up.

“The players were on the coach for a long time and, obviously, when it broke down it was very hot in there. I was a bit worried about the players starting the game lethargically.

“It was literally 20 minutes from us getting off the coach to us starting the game. There wasn’t anything we could do about it.

“Fair enough we were late to the game but I think it’s all in your head and it’s about how you prepare yourself mentally.

“That’s what I spoke to the boys about before the start of the game and, luckily for us, they responded to that. They could have started lethargically but they didn’t want to.

“They want to be a force. They are certainly a bunch of players now who are starting to gel and are getting on very well, and all credit must go to them.

“I was speaking to a couple of supporters afterwards and they said that was as impressive a performance that they have seen for many a year.”
