DORCHESTER TOWN RES 2 AFC TOTTON RES 3

SIMON Evans suffered his first defeat as Dorchester boss following a 3-2 league reverse against Totton at the Avenue.

The Magpies were looking to build on a 3-0 victory over Winchester in their previous Wyvern Premier Division outing but came out second best on the night.

Dorchester remain one from bottom on the table, four points ahead of basement boys Wimborne, who they travel to next Wednesday.

Totton, who started with former county town defender Tony Rolls in their line-up, got off to a flyer when they took the lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

A cross into the Magpies’ box found Matthew Brewer and he turned the ball home from close range to make it 1-0.

Kyle Joryeff might have doubled the visitors’ advantage soon after but Dorchester keeper Jordan Mullis kept out his long-range effort.

The hosts’ first opportunity fell the way of Sam Pashen, though his shot from distance was never going to seriously trouble Victor Silvestre in the Totton goal.

However, it didn’t take much longer for Evans’ troops to draw level and Milo Shackleford was the scorer.

A cross whipped in from the right reached the striker and he fired in from point-blank range.

Pashen was then in the thick of it once again when his free-kick was tipped around the post by Silvestre.

After the sides went into the half-time interval level at 1-1, Totton made the better start to the second period.

Dorchester had already replaced Adam Diaz with Ben Wellman when the visitors took the lead for a second time.

Mullis couldn’t hold a shot from Joe Rawkins and Mark Lilley had the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net.

Boss Evans made his second change of the encounter immediately after the goal, bringing Sam Hurlstone on for Dan Morris.

However, 2-1 became 3-1 a few minutes later, Joryeff finding the top corner with a free-kick.

But the Magpies were given a way back into the contest after Silvestre brought down Ryan Ross in the Totton box.

Ross tucked away the penalty and Silvestre was lucky to escape with just a yellow card.

Dorchester pushed for an equaliser in the latter stages and, although they created a few half-chances, the hosts were unable to salvage a draw.

Totton moved up to fifth place with the three points.
