DORCHESTER TOWN 0

POOLE TOWN 2

GOALS in either half for Poole Town gave them a comfortable victory over Dorchester Town at the Avenue.

Nico Zanchetta powerfully headed home from Luke Burbridge's sublime free-kick in the 33rd minute for the visitors.

The Magpies had their moments in both halves, David Jerrard had a thunderous effort saved by Tom Rees midway through the second half.

But, try as they might the hosts struggled to break down Poole and Luke Roberts killed the game off with five minutes to go thanks to a cheeky back-heel.

Dorchester did start the game brightly. Ben Wood and Mario Mateus both looked lively in attack, but whenever they got into a shooting position, their shots lacked power.

But they fell behind to Zanchetta's effort in the first half but the Magpies battled hard and looked almost equal with their higher league opposition.

The second half continued in much the same vein with both teams having spells of possession.

Jerrard's effort was the best for Dorchester as Nathan Walker headed over from a corner.

At the other end, the away side had chances through Michael Walker and Abulia Baggie, but they couldn't beat Shane Murphy for a second time.

The obligatory pre-season mass changes happened and it gave the Dolphins a better foothold in the contest.

They finished the stronger, and got their deserved second with five minutes to go.

Baggie's corner bounced into the box, and after a poor clearancne the ball fell to Roberts who calmly back-heeled past Murphy.

The visitors kept on pressing forward but couldn't find a third as the referee blew full time on an encounter that has shown the lack of depth in the Avenue outfit's squad.
