DORCHESTER TOWN RES 1
SALISBURY DEVELOPMENT 2
A GOAL from Billy Mitchell was not enough to keep his side in the John Stimpson Memorial Shield, as the Magpies fell to defeat in the last eight against Salisbury Development.
Mitchell had fired the home side into an early lead when he finished off a neat move involving former Portland man Gareth Will and Sol Ayunga.
That was a lead the home side took into the break, but it was the Whites who battled back in the second period to book their place in the next round.
A classy strike from the edge of the area, followed by a neat move by the hosts stunned the Magpies, who then looked to the bench to freshen things up.
Ben Sabine was brought on in place of Olly Balmer and Jason Brookes replaced Will as Rich Robson’s side pushed for a leveller.
But it was not to be for the home side as Salisbury, whose goals came through Reece Rusher and Brandon Mundy on the night, held firm to reach the last four of the competition.
Magpies: Hibbs, Wellman, Payne, Hills, Diaz, Proffitt, Balmer (Sabine), Nicolson, Ayunga, Will (Brookes), Mitchell. Subs not used: Tennant, Hill, Brumble
