DORCHESTER TOWN 1

FROME TOWN 4

DORCHESTER Town fell to another disappointing defeat, losing 4-1 at home to Frome Town in their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier encounter at the Avenue Stadium.

Jake Jackson hit Frome’s first from 12 yards after Neil Martin gave possession away, before Billy Lowes scored Dorchester’s first goal in five games.

After the break Frome cut loose as Joe Raynes, Jon Davies, and Jackson all scored to pile more misery on their hosts.

Interim manager Trevor Senior made three changes from the side that lost 5-0 at St Neots on Saturday, with Dom Panesar-Dower, Ollie Griggs and David Jerrard on the bench.

That meant there were starts for new signing Conor Jevon, who joins the Magpies on non-contract terms from Weymouth Reserves, Martin and Ed Bastick.

Jevon was partnered up front by Jordan Storey, who kept his forward role from Saturday, and the two almost combined in the fourth minute but Jevon couldn’t reach Storey’s cushioned header six yards out.

But despite Dorchester having the better start, it was Frome who took the lead on 15 minutes.

Martin was robbed in midfield and Jackson took full advantage, stepping inside and calmly side-footing past Weale from 12 yards.

Frome would have extended their lead but for Weale’s agility from a Jon Davies free-kick, getting down low to his right to save, before Jevon poked an effort at Kyle Phillips after good

work from Lowes.

However, Dorchester went into half-time through Lowes’ crisp strike following a penetrative run by Storey.

But after half-time Frome made the Magpies pay for wasting their chances with two quick goals.

Goalscorer Jackson set up the second for Raynes, who side-footed home with aplomb, before Lowes lost possession and tripped Jackson for a penalty that Davies stroked home.

Dorchester briefly looked like getting back into the game and had a period of extended pressure without creating a clear cut chance, which cost them dear when Davies raided down the right and fed Jackson to complete the scoring.

Magpies: Weale, Egan, Clarke, Bowles, Carmichael, Winsper (Griggs 82), Bastick, Lowes (Jerrard 77), Jevon, Storey, Martin (Blair 65). Subs not used: Panesar-Dower, Corbridge
