KINGS LANGLEY 2

Turner 16, Weiss 45

DORCHESTER TOWN 2

Lowes 49, 64

TWO Billy Lowes goals helped Dorchester seal a vital point to deny the Kings.

The Magpies were 2-0 down at the break before Lowes struck in the 49th and 64th minutes to level the scores.

Magpies’ boss Steve Thompson made two changes to the Magpies’ side that began the 1-1 draw with Chesham United on Saturday after Luke Winsper shook off an ankle injury to replace Gary Bowles in the starting XI – the county town skipper missing from the squad completely.

The visitors received a boost before the game when former New Zealand international striker Rory Fallon was announced as their latest signing, and the former Plymouth man started against Kings Langley last night.

The hosts began brightly and had the majority of the possession at the CRY Community Stadium.

The Kings had several opportunities, including a great one-on-one chance early on which was superbly saved by experienced keeper Chris Weale in the Magpies’ goal.

David Jerrard then broke on the counter and only a good save denied the Magpies the lead.

New-man Fallon then headed the resulting corner over.

The Kings then got the goal their early dominance merited on 16 minutes when Kieran Turner curled in a beauty from outside the area with his left-foot.

Despite this, Fallon was winning everything in the air and his knock down found Jerrard but the ball ended up in the keeper’s hands.

A great run from Billy Lowes then freed Aaron Rodriguez whose effort was deflected on to the post as the Magpies tried to restore parity.

Fallon caused the Langley defence numerous problems, and the Kiwi headed a Jerrard ball wide late in the first half.

However, right on the half-time whistle, Mitchell Weiss doubled the home side’s advantage when he slid the ball home through the legs of Weale.

The visitors started the second half in determined fashion and reduced the deficit when Lowes smashed home from 20 yards on 49 minutes.

Thompson’s men then levelled when Lowes struck his second after he deflected the ball home. Dom Panesar-Dower had unleashed an effort which struck Lowes and went in off the post.

This saw the hosts, who were looking for their first home win of the season, up their game and Weale was forced to make a point-blank save to keep them out.

With 15 minutes to go, the Magpies had looked the more likely to take all the points as they pressed the hosts.

The Kings did have a half-hearted appeal for a penalty but the referee waved away the appeals.

However, the Magpies survived late home pressure when Weale made another save to seal a precious point against the struggling hosts.
