DORCHESTER boss Robbie Taylor was delighted after his young side impressed at Bashley.
The Magpies’ chief saw his side take a 3-0 half-time lead in this Wyvern Combination League clash in the New Forest.
Goals from Matt Goodland, Jamie Symes and captain Steve Walker gave the dominant county town side a comfortable advantage and Symes notched another in the second period to seal the win.
Taylor said: “It was a good night all round, we put out a young side with no senior players involved and the youngsters impressed me with their attitude.
“We defended very well and the back four kept their focus for the whole game.
“We also created plenty of chances and there was no weak point throughout the team.
“The club certainly has a bright future if these players can fulfil their potential. They are learning and listening well.”
Goodland gave the Magpies the lead when he pounced from close range from a corner.
Symes scored his first when he finished from the edge of the box and the third came from via another corner, this time through Walker.
The hosts did close the deficit after the break, but Symes increased the Magpies’ advantage with a superb effort, which he curled into the top corner of the net.
Bashley did score a consolation late on but it did not ruin a good night for the Magpies.
Magpies: Floyd, Beals, Kimber, Austin, Walker, Symes (Brooks), Way, Taylor (Gape), Goodland (Tennant), Godfrey, Carlisle. Subs not used: Michie, Buckler
