THE Magpies could be set to lose new signing Danny Green for several weeks due to a knee injury.

The ex-Truro City star took an awkward tumble in the 4-0 defeat at Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday night but the county town outfit is still waiting to find out the full extent of the damage.

Boss Phil Simkin, who only signed Green last Thursday night, told Echosport:

“It is a knee-ligament problem but we are not going to know just how bad it is until it settles down – all I can really say is it doesn’t look good.

“The pitch at Havant was like a sponge and he took a challenge which pushed his knee sideways.

“We will take another look at it on Thursday night when hopefully we will get more of an idea of just how long he is going to be out – it’s a massive blow.”

The Magpies’ boss was bitterly disappointed after the heavy loss at West Leigh Park and is now hoping to add more firepower to his squad ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Maidenhead United.

He added: “There was not much left that could have gone wrong at Havant – it was not a good evening.

“I am really concerned about our league form and I am looking to bring a couple in.

“There is a chance I might have a forward player in before the weekend.”

Town’s last league win came on September 29 against Welling but they still lie 13th in Blue Square Bet South, just four points off the top three with games in hand on several of the teams above them.
