PHIL Simkin has boosted Dorchester Town’s bid for survival by swooping for a couple of Gulls.

Torquay United duo Ashley Yeoman and Nathan Craig have both agreed one-month loan deals with the county town outfit and are expected to be included in this afternoon’s squad to face league leaders Bromley at the Avenue Stadium (3pm).

Striker Yeoman has progressed through the ranks at the Devon club, while former Everton youth product Craig is a talented midfielder that has represented Wales at under-21 level.

Commenting on the double deal, boss Simkin told Echosport: “Chris Hargreaves has loaned us two lads from Torquay and we are hopeful they will both be available for today’s game.

“They are both good players and we are delighted to have them on board.

“Nathan Craig is a top-notch midfielder while Ashley Yeoman is a front player that scores goals, which is something we haven’t been doing enough of.

“Warren Byerley and Nathan Walker have both come in on loan recently and made a massive difference to us, and hopefully Nathan Craig and Ashley can do the same.

“We have been a lot stronger recently and if those two can add that extra bit of quality, it should stand us in good stead ahead of some very important fixtures coming up.”

The Magpies will do well to get anything out of Bromley today but three out of their following four fixtures are all against sides just above them in the Skrill South table.

Those games against Hayes & Yeading (February 18), Tonbridge Angels (February 22) and Boreham Wood (March 8) could prove pivotal in their quest to beat the drop.
