MAGPIES’ boss Graham Kemp has confirmed to Echosport that midfielder Will Agbo has been released by the club after just two months at the Avenue.

The former Yeovil Town man was signed by previous manager Phil Simkin back in July, but has parted ways at Dorchester by mutual consent.

Kemp told Echosport: “There is nothing against him personally or ability wise, it was just down to location really.

“He travelled a long way and I want to try and get some more local lads in.

“I have looked at the team sheets and spoken to Stuart Heath about him and he was really a squad player.

"I felt a player driving from Shepton Mallet just to be a squad player is not really the best way to spend resources and there are local lads who can take up that position.”

The Avenue chief also reassured fans that club stalwart Nick Crittenden missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Hungerford Town due to family commitments.

“It was his brother’s wedding I believe,” he added.

“He did make it clear to me as soon as I joined that he would be unavailable for that game.”

Kemp also gave an update on Oakley Hanger’s injury, after the defender was forced to hobble off and go to hospital after dislocating his knee on Saturday, which could keep him out for a lengthy period.

“He is in a brace and he’s been told to rest until Thursday and has a scan then,” the county town manager added.
