MAGPIES’ boss Graham Kemp expects nothing less than three points from tonight’s showdown with Bideford (7.45pm).

The two sides go into the Southern Premier Division encounter with only goal difference separating them in the bottom half of the table – and both are desperate for a win.

Bideford have recorded a single success from their last six league outings while Dorchester go into the clash at the Avenue on the back of one victory in nine.

But after pushing Dunstable close on Saturday, county town chief Kemp is setting his sights on maximum points tonight.

Looking ahead to the game, he said: “I’ll lay my cards on the table and say that I expect us to win.

“I said that to the lads on Saturday, and if we play like we did at the weekend we’ll get the result.

“So far we haven’t put two performances together on the trot and we need to rectify that.

“On Saturday, I was as happy as I could have been after a defeat.

“We created four or five good opportunities to score against the team second in the league.

“If you create that many you have to be playing well, it was just a shame we couldn’t take those chances.

“If we create the same number against Bideford then I expect us to win the game.”

Cutting out lapses at the back will be at the top of Kemp’s wish list for the visit of Bideford.

But while the mistakes that proved so costly against Dunstable are avoidable, the Dorchester supremo knows he can’t prepare for every eventuality.

He continued: “There are things you can work on in training but the one thing you can’t is decision making.

“Decision making happens in the heat of the moment when the game is in full flow.

“If you make the wrong choice then what happened on Saturday will happen.”

There is set to be another new face in the Dorchester squad with the arrival of Bournemouth defender Josh Kaye on loan.

The left-back is due to replace fellow Cherries’ youngster Callum Buckley, whose loan spell came to an end following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat.

“Josh is a straight replacement for Callum and is certainly ready for senior football,” added Kemp.

“He is an attacking left-back who is technically very good.

“Callum did great for us and I was really pleased with his attitude.”

Jamie Gleeson and Charlie Davis are unavailable.
