MAGPIES’ manager Graham Kemp is set to wield the axe on his squad by placing a selection of players on the transfer list, following their 4-0 defeat to Hereford United last night.

The county town boss revealed the time is now to make the move in freeing up wages, to improve a squad he believes is not sufficient to propel Dorchester up the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table.

Kemp told Echosport: “I don’t see any improvement over the last three or four games and there is only so long you can flog a dead horse.

“I can genuinely look at all the players in the eye and say ‘you have been given a fair chance and you haven’t done it’ and I don’t think we are going to get out of trouble with the same 16 or 18 people floating around the changing room.

“I think now I have to sit down and make some harsh choices and put one or two players on the transfer list and try to free up some funds.

“There are no more funds available for me and quite rightly with the position we are in, I will just have to wheel and deal and see who I can bring in.

“The decision may be made for me, there may be one or two players that want to go on the list, I wouldn’t expect anyone to be happy with the position we are in.”

*Dorchester Reserves' scheduled Dorset Senior Trophy clash with Stourpaine tonight has been postponed because the Avenue Stadium pitch is waterlogged.

The game is now set to take place next Tuesday (7.45pm).
