MAGPIES’ boss Graham Kemp believes the tide could be starting to turn at the Avenue on the back of his side’s last two league performances.
A point against Cambridge City was followed by three more in the 2-1 victory over Corby – those results came after four losses in all competitions.
“We are a good side now and with players coming back from injury the lads know they have to play well to stay in the team,” said Kemp.
“And that’s how I want it to be. I don’t want to have to beg and borrow, I want to manage, and for the last two or three weeks I’ve just picked a team.
“We’re doing the basics better now, we’ve adapted our style a little bit, and everyone has bought into it.
“I’ll openly admit that we were more positive against Cambridge and I felt a bit better after the fans’ forum, I didn’t feel like the whole world was against me.
“Perhaps my team talks are a little bit more upbeat as well.”
With this weekend off, Dorchester will return to action next Wednesday when they go to Swanage Town & Herston in the Dorset Senior Cup.
And Kemp feels the break has come at a good time for his charges.
He added: “It’s great to go into a break on the back of a victory.
“Now we can get everyone fit and try and push on from here.
“We’ll train on Thursday then the players will get next weekend off.
“It is a double-edged sword having a break but we’ve had a lot of games and everyone can go away with a smile on their face.”
