DORCHESTER Town’s players cannot afford to take the current feel-good factor around the squad for granted, according to boss Graham Kemp.

County town chief Kemp has noticed the positive effect the Magpies’ last two results have had on his men, but he has warned them of the pitfalls they face if they rest on their laurels.

A long trip to St Neots Town lies in store for Dorchester on Saturday, as the Avenue outfit attempt to go a third game unbeaten in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

They travel the much shorter distance to Days Park tonight (7.45pm) for a Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final against Swanage Town & Herston, and Kemp has highlighted how important the tie is in keeping the good vibes flowing.

Speaking to Echosport about the squad’s mood, he said: “The atmosphere is great and training has been brilliant, which you would expect after the last two games.

“But, as I’ve said to the lads, you can’t take that for granted because the second you take your eye off the ball it could be all doom and gloom again.

“No disrespect to anyone, but the game tonight is important to us because it comes in the build up to Saturday.

“In the great scheme of things, the competition is not our top priority, but the match is crucial for players who need minutes on the pitch.

“Jamie Gleeson could do with 90 minutes and some others need game time to blow away the cobwebs after a weekend off.

“I’m also keen to get through the game without picking up any injuries.”

He added: “We have to go into the game with the right attitude and not take the other side lightly.

“We will be up for it and it’s a big game for them, they will want to cause an upset.”

Kieran Parrett will start for the Magpies and Jason Brookes is set to be involved too, though Dan Smith, Jake Smeeton (hamstring) and Andy Robinson (hamstring) are being rested.
