GRAHAM Kemp admitted the Terras’ first goal in yesterday’s derby showdown knocked the stuffing out of his side.

Dorchester were enjoying their best spell of the game when defender Matt Oldring brought down Chris Shephard for a penalty which Stewart Yetton converted.

“We had a game plan that we stuck to well and I felt quite comfortable at half-time,” said Magpies’ boss Kemp.

“Unfortunately, their first goal probably came when we were at our best.

“The first goal was always going to be huge, especially with us and our confidence being a bit fragile.

“Once they got the first one the writing was on the wall and I didn’t think we believed we could score two.

“I felt that for an hour or more we were as good as them, but unfortunately the first goal came against the run of play.

“I didn’t think it was a 3-0 game and the scoreline does flatter them, but a defeat is a defeat.”

On his team’s display, he added: “I don’t think anyone can really criticise the lads too much for what they put in.

“They put in 100 per cent commitment and effort, and you can’t ask for any more than that.

“The players can play better but I don’t think anyone can say that any player walked off the pitch having not given 100 per cent.

“The basics were there and hopefully we can take that into the next game when our ability will shine through.”
