A BUST-UP between two of Dorchester Town’s senior players has left their futures at the club hanging in the balance, Echosport can reveal.

Club captain Nathan Walker and keeper Alan Walker-Harris were left out of the squad for the derby against Weymouth after clashing in training before the trip to Slough.

Walker did not feature in that match while both players missed the Boxing Day defeat to the Terras.

And Magpies’ boss Grah-am Kemp says that unless the two men resolve their differences they cannot play together in the same team again.

Commenting on the matter, Kemp said: “A lot of supporters have been enquiring of late why I have not included Nathan Walker in my first-team squad and latterly Alan Walker-Harris.

“There is an internal disciplinary matter ongoing regarding an issue that has been simmering over a long period of time.

“As a football coach, it is my job to help all my players feel part of the team and to create a new, stronger team spirit.

“A successful football team is more often than not a stable team.

“No one person is bigger than the team and I will not allow anything to compromise the team spirit myself and my coaching staff are so desperately trying to build here at Dorchester Town.”

He went on to add: “Unless we have a harmonious dressing room it makes our job hard and it has been clear to me that the two players don’t see eye to eye.

“Things came to a head before the Slough game.

“Afterwards we had a meeting between the three of us and it was clear that they couldn’t play together in the same team.

“Both said they liked me and the club but they couldn’t bury the hatchet for an hour-and-a-half once or twice a week. It’s up to the two players if they want to play for the club.

“They will only play again if they resolve their differences or one decides to leave.

“Even if one leaves I’d still be very disappointed in the actions of the other one.”

This latest incident couldn’t come at a worse time for the county town outfit.

They sit just four points off the foot of the league table following five successive defeats and face a daunting trip to leaders Poole Town on Thursday.
