DETERMINED Magpies’ manager Mark Jermyn has “full confidence” in his current playing staff to escape the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division drop-zone.

The 33-year-old, who has played more than 600 games for the club, has also called for his players to show what they are truly capable of in their fight against relegation.

Commenting on his current squad, the county town boss, pictured, told Echosport: “I am happy with what we have got, I am not going to moan about budgets or the squad that I have.

“They have all really bought in to what we have done so far, and I said to them if we have done this in two training sessions and one game, imagine what we will accomplish in a month’s time or at the end of the season.

“I have inherited a team, are they all of my chosen players? They are not, but I am going to do my best by them and hopefully they are buying into it and it will make them better players.

“There is no reason why a £50 player has to play like a £50 player, why can’t they exceed anybody’s expectations? I did it, so I am looking for people to show what they are capable of.

“I have full confidence in the team I have got around me and in my management staff in Nick and Stuart.”

And while Jermyn is confident that the squad he currently has will soon shoot out of the bottom three, he is not ruling out bringing in some new additions.

“We have had a few people already showing interest that they would like to come and we are going to have somebody watched tonight hopefully,” he added.

“If they are any good, we will bring them in but I want to utilise what’s already here because we have got good players. They just need to learn and appreciate the way we are going to play and buy into enjoying football again.”
