ASHLEY Nicholls reckons a permanent move back to Dorchester Town this summer could be on the cards.

However, he insisted he would have take certain factors into account before rejoining from Maidenhead United.

The 33-year-old was recently told by his parent club he would not be a regular fixture in their first team during the remainder of the season.

He returned to the Magpies on a dual registration ahead of last Saturday’s game against Frome and county town boss Mark Jermyn is hopeful of securing his services for next term.

Commenting on the things he will be mulling over at the end of the campaign, Nicholls said: “The league a club is playing in doesn’t matter as much as the ambition of the club. Next season could be my last and I don’t want to spend it battling relegation.

“A few of the lads who want to go back to Dorchester were there when the club was quite successful, and if they get any of them in then I would be more than happy to stay and play.

“If it’s looking like Dorchester are going to have a squad to compete for the play-offs then I would be happy to sign.”

He added: “It’s pretty well known there could be a new manager at Maidenhead next season, and if there is he could bring his own players in.”

Meanwhile, the FA's requirements for the conversion of the club to a Community Benefit Society (CBS) have now been satisfied.

In an email to the club, the FA said: “We will be recommending to the Membership Committee on April 23 that the club’s conversion to a CBS is approved.”

Registration of the Rules of Society and the club membership process can start in earnest.
