DORCHESTER Town are on their longest run without a league win since Mark Jermyn took over as boss, but the county town chief is not concerned by his side’s recent form.

The Magpies make the trip to Histon’s Glass World ground for an Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division showdown with Cambridge City tomorrow (3pm) having drawn three and lost one of their last four games.

But Jermyn feels that, given the opposition his men came up against in those matches, three points from 12 doesn’t paint a true picture of how they are playing at the moment.

“I wouldn’t say the last few results are a cause for concern,” he told Echosport. “Going to Corby and getting a draw would have been a good result whatever our situation was.

“Frome and ourselves are two teams battling it out near the bottom of the table so we had to get something out of that one, which we did.

“We more than matched Redditch and could have got something out of that game, and Hitchin is a hard place to go to. I went there with Poole earlier in the season and lost 1-0, so to get a point wasn’t too bad.”

However, Jermyn knows the Magpies could have claimed a few more points than they ultimately did.

He added: “On paper, they are not bad results, but we got ourselves into a position against Frome where we should have seen the game out.

“We were also winning at Corby last Saturday and couldn’t see that one out either, so we probably should have got more out of them than we did. But that’s the difference between the sides at the bottom and the top.

“When teams like Corby and Poole aren’t playing particularly well they still grind out results or hold on and win games.”

Jermyn is hoping Ashley Nicholls will be available tomorrow, though Matt Oldring is still absent. He, like Jermyn, also misses Easter Monday’s Dorset derby against Poole Town at the Avenue.
