SATURDAY’S victory over Paulton shows how far Dorchester have come under Mark Jermyn, according to Sam Lanahan.

Bradley Tarbuck and Lanahan were on target for the Magpies in their 2-1 win at the weekend as Jermyn’s men bounced back from their Dorset Senior Cup disappointment four days previously.

“I couldn’t really put my finger on why we didn’t perform in the Weymouth game earlier in the week,” said Lanahan.

“But I thought we deserved the win on Saturday and it was a sign of where we’ve come from in the last few months that we were able to bounce back like we did.

“Our first-half performance was excellent and we were all over them after getting off to a great start.

“It was more even in the second half but we still played well, though I’m not quite sure what the difference was between that game and the Weymouth game.”

Dorchester bring their season to a close when they entertain Slough Town at the Avenue on Saturday.

And Lanahan, whose opening goal against Paulton was his ninth overall this term, wants to finish with a flourish.

“It would be nice to give the fans a good finish to the season,” he added.

“A win would also be good to take into the summer before we can start looking ahead to next season.”
