DORCHESTER Town chief Mark Jermyn is ready to put his juggling skills to the test this summer when it comes to managing the club’s playing budget.

Jermyn told Echosport that of the players he has spoken to regarding next season “the majority are happy to stay”.

He also revealed that contact has already been made with “one or two” possible new signings.

But Jermyn knows his first close season as a manager will largely be about his financial astuteness.

“We’ve spoken to the majority of the players and the majority are happy to stay, the only stumbling block is how we fit everybody into the budget,” he said.

“At the moment we want to sign the majority of our players, plus some additions.

“But the only thing is that with a budget you’ve got to look at areas that you haven’t performed in and maybe use the budget that way.

“Unfortunately we might have to make room in the budget, which is frustrating really because we want to keep the majority of the lads.

“But if you can’t do that then you’ve got to look after the players you want to keep.”

And regarding new arrivals, he added: “We’ve spoken to one or two already but we’re going to wait for the season to simmer down.

“We’re not going to have a massive squad next season because we haven’t got the budget for it.”
