DEFENDER Chris Dillon has given Dorchester Town fans a lift after revealing a deal to secure his services for next season could be imminent.

Dillon, the supporters’ player of the year, has already spoken to boss Mark Jermyn about his future at the club, with the two set to meet again this week for further talks.

Speaking to Echosport, Dillon said how moving to the Avenue last September gave him back his hunger for the game.

And after a string of consistent performances under both Graham Kemp and Jermyn, Dillon is hopeful of extending his stay with the Magpies.

“I got released from Eastleigh last season and didn’t know what I was going to do jobwise,”

he said.

“I was in the process of applying for the Fire Service, and got quite far, so couldn’t commit to playing for a team every Tuesday and Saturday.

“I wasn’t really planning on playing football at all when the season started but I didn’t get the job and Kempy asked me to help him out.

“That got my hunger for the game back and I’ve really enjoyed the season at Dorchester.

“It’s never nice to be near the bottom of the league but when you are in a relegation battle it can be exciting.

“Every game and every point is so important, and it’s always good to be playing for something.”

On the chances of him staying at the Avenue, he added: “I spoke to Jem the week before last and he said he would like to keep me for next season.

“I’m going to talk to him again this week and we’ll probably sort something out.

“I’m really happy there and feel settled at the club.”

Dillon picked up three awards in all after the final-day win over Slough, and he has been happy with his form since arriving last September.

“It’s always nice to get individual awards,”

he said. “I just try to do my job and, for me, it’s always a team effort at the end of the day.”
